John Baptist Odama : ウィキペディア英語版 | John Baptist Odama John Baptist Odama (born 20 July 1947) is the Roman-Catholic Archbishop of Gulu, Uganda.〔(Archbishop John Baptist Odama ) Catholic Hierarchy. Retrieved 11 October 2013〕 Born in Riki- Oluko in the Arua District, Odama was ordained priest in the Catholic church on 14 December 1974. He was ordained bishop of the Diocese of Nebbi in 1996 and archbishop of Gulu in 1999.〔 Odama was chairman of the interfaith organisation Acholi Religious Leaders Peace Initiative (ARLPI) from 2002 to 2010. The organisation was involved in peacebuilding efforts in Northern Uganda. As leader of the organisation, Odama met with Joseph Kony and other leaders of the Lord’s Resistance Army and mediated between them and the Government of Uganda. ARLPI received the Niwano Peace Prize in 2004. Odama was also involved in the 2006–08 Juba talks between the two parties.〔(ARLPI Religious Leaders Biographies ) Arlpi.org.
